ABOUT THE ARTIST

Isabelle Peabody was born and raised on Boston’s North Shore. An Art Major at Endicott College, she studied life drawing and realism before beginning her journey as an expressionist painter studying with Ric Haynes and drawn to the works of Franz Kline and Willem de Kooning.

During college, Isabelle interned at Shriner’s Burn Hospital, where she planned and implemented art projects for young burn victims. The strength of the human spirit for self-expression she witnessed there has remained a profound influence in her work.

After graduating from Endicott, Isabelle lived on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, continuing to paint while absorbing the beauty of that paradise. Following 9/11 she returned from Hawaii and lived in New York City where she studied at The Arts Student League and participated in many of their exhibits. There, a combination of the passive beauty of Hawaii and the contrasting tempo of Manhattan, ignited a new sophistication on her canvases leading her to be invited to exhibit at the Upper East Side’s Vivolo Restaurant and Ziggy’s Café and fulfilling commissions by a new following.

Now, having returned to her native North Shore, Isabelle's work has been exhibited at galleries close to her home in Massachusetts: Time & Tide Fine Art in Ipswich, Local Colors in Gloucester, The Art Exchange and the Carol Grillo Art Gallery, both in Beverly. She was a featured artist in the Manchester by-the-Sea Arts Festival in 2009.

Isabelle attributes her success to staying true to herself as an artist and having a genuine respect for abstract art.
